Project : McDonald's Team UK participation in the McDonald's Worldwide Conference
Location : Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, The Argyle Centre, and The Rocks
For the first global McDonald's restaurant managers' conference to be held in Australia, imagine Asia Pacific was appointed to manage the entire production process for Team UK's 840 managers. This included designing and building the exhibition stand, producing and executing the conference, and organising the welcome and farewell parties.
The conference and exhibition was designed for 3700 McDonald's managers from around the world at which they could interact and discuss ideas during a week-long exhibition, conference and party in Sydney. It was also open for suppliers like Coca Cola and Fujitsu to exhibit and directly pitch to senior country managers.
The McDonald's UK Team stand was created by imagine Sydney and the design was approved by senior UK management just three weeks prior to the unveiling at the exhibition. imagine Asia Pacific fabricated all elements of the stand, and to ensure that the stand was as interactive and appealing as possible, games and entertainment were arranged. imagine Asia Pacific also provided an internet VPN service to allow the team to access email, props and giveaways throughout the week.
The conference was held at SCEC, where, to open the conference, a Union Jack-covered MINI Cooper drove down the centre of the room, carrying four senior managers to the spot where they delivered their presentation. The Welcome Party for Team UK was held at The Argyle Centre in the heart of The Rocks. The Farewell Party was held at Wolfies, also at The Rocks, where three restaurants were joined together with a marquee to entertain the 800+ managers.
The week-long event was a major success, with pictures and video taken from the event used for McDonald UK's staff Christmas cards. 840 DVDs of the event were additionally delivered to the entire Team UK as a motivating gesture from McDonald's UK senior management.
